Summary

A tale of unlikely heroes and myths is made real in this debut graphic novel series about a "bad" demon trying to find her place in the underworld。 But she'll have to save it first!

Meesh is a bad demon。 "Bad" meaning she always sees the good in those around her--which, strictly speaking, isn't how a demon is meant to feel or act。

Bullied by the other demons, twelve-year-old Meesh is more likely to be found poring over Fairy World's magazines and fangirling the fairy princesses。 When disaster strikes and her family is threatened, Meesh must journey to the Fairy World to find a healing crystal that can save the underworld。 And speak of the devil! She meets a fairy princess right away。

But things in the Fairy World aren't so perfect either。 As Meesh makes surprising new friends and unites a band of outcasts--including her bully--she learns there's more to being a demon than being bad。

Sometimes the secret to real power is in loving yourself, faults and all。

Meesh the Bad Demon is a fantastic read for all ages, especially for the little ones, about self discovery。 The premise follows Meesh, a young demon, going on a journey to save her homeland while learning about herself and making friends along the way。 She doesn't have much of a desire to become a demon as she always idolizes life of a fairy。 However, her homeland is soon struck with a disaster leaving her to find help。 One of those companions on her journey is none other than, Nouna the Fairy P Meesh the Bad Demon is a fantastic read for all ages, especially for the little ones, about self discovery。 The premise follows Meesh, a young demon, going on a journey to save her homeland while learning about herself and making friends along the way。 She doesn't have much of a desire to become a demon as she always idolizes life of a fairy。 However, her homeland is soon struck with a disaster leaving her to find help。 One of those companions on her journey is none other than, Nouna the Fairy Princess, her idol。 Soon she will discover that not everything is as perfect as they appear on screen。 Meesh the Bad Demon is a great graphic novel that not only teaches kids/teens about self love but also overcoming biases that we have towards people。 An added bonus to the compelling story is the beautiful art that comes with it。 The pages were beautifully designed where you can tell the author has a background in storyboarding from how cinematic certain pages are。 The coloring and overall art gives reader a comforting, cute, and cozy vibes as they process through the story。 I highly recommend reading this graphic novel even just for the art as well! I can't wait for the second volume as the ending leaves the readers waiting for more。 Meesh may have started as a demon who couldn't perform her devilish duties well but she sure stole my heart at the end! 。。。more

Meesh is a demon but not very good at being a demon。 Her love for flowers and fairies and inability to breath fire and spit acid is a recipe for getting bullied by her demon classmates。 When their demon world is attacked by disaster, Meesh seeks out the help of her fairy idol, a werewolf, and a bully turned friend to save their world。There is a lot to explore in this world。 The artwork is cute。 The story is fast moving and thought provoking。 Recommend for middle grades。

Meesh is supposed to be a scary demon who can breathe fire and spit acid, but she'd rather play with fairy action figures and watch princess cartoons。 When her whole world and everyone she loves are threatened by a mysterious curse。 Meesh is sure that Nouna the fairy princess can solve all her problems, but when Meesh gets to the fairy city, she discovers decades of prejudice and misunderstanding。 When an accident forces Nouna and Meesh together, they have to put aside their differences for the Meesh is supposed to be a scary demon who can breathe fire and spit acid, but she'd rather play with fairy action figures and watch princess cartoons。 When her whole world and everyone she loves are threatened by a mysterious curse。 Meesh is sure that Nouna the fairy princess can solve all her problems, but when Meesh gets to the fairy city, she discovers decades of prejudice and misunderstanding。 When an accident forces Nouna and Meesh together, they have to put aside their differences for the good of both their worlds。This clever story plays with classic superhero tropes and ponders systemic racism in an approachable and whimsical way。 The characters are fun and believable, and I loved seeing new magic pop up at every turn。 Fans of the Legend of Zelda and Crystal Cadets should definitely pick up this exciting first in series graphic novel。 I can't wait for the second one to come out! 。。。more

Oh man I love this series opener。 The art is gorgeous, the world building is so immersive, and all of the characters are engaging and personable。 The book ends on a cliffhanger which will definitely have kids asking when the next one comes out! I love the cute but also spooky ways that Mesh is depicted and the lessons in friendship along the way。

The first in a series, Meesh begins with a heroine’s journey and has strong middle-grade appeal。 Manga-inspired illustration style plays with the magical girl genreThe fantasy story addresses compelling real-life issues including bullying and subverting stereotypes。

Meesh is a young demon girl living with her grandma at Mount Lava。 She is teased for liking flowers & fairies, and not doing well in demon subjects at school, such as flying and breathing fire。One night (daytime for demons), something terrible happened; the lava started turning everyone to stone! Meesh had fallen down a hill, saving her, so she decided to look for help。 The only help she could imagine was the magic ruby of Princess Nouna from the popular tv show。 However, meeting the real Nouna Meesh is a young demon girl living with her grandma at Mount Lava。 She is teased for liking flowers & fairies, and not doing well in demon subjects at school, such as flying and breathing fire。One night (daytime for demons), something terrible happened; the lava started turning everyone to stone! (Full disclosure: I received a free e-ARC for review through Netgalley。)Meesh isn't like the other demons at Mount Magma Middle School。 She loves flowers, adores all things fairy, and fangirls over Princess Nouna。 Her fire breathing skills are subpar, and she's hardly the star pupil in acid-puking, horn-sharpening, night vision, or lava-molding class, either。 Meesh feels like an outcast among her own kind。 But, when contaminated lava turns all the demons of Mount Magma to stone and Meesh must tr (Full disclosure: I received a free e-ARC for review through Netgalley。)Meesh isn't like the other demons at Mount Magma Middle School。 She loves flowers, adores all things fairy, and fangirls over Princess Nouna。 Her fire breathing skills are subpar, and she's hardly the star pupil in acid-puking, horn-sharpening, night vision, or lava-molding class, either。 Meesh feels like an outcast among her own kind。 But, when contaminated lava turns all the demons of Mount Magma to stone and Meesh must travel to Plumeria City in search of help, she's shunned by the very beings she so idolizes。 Little does Meesh know that Princess Nouna is hiding her own 'shameful' secret。 Together, the two tweens must figure out who's trying to poison the demons - and learn to love themselves in the process。 Luckily, they have some help in the form of Xavier, one of Meesh's classmates (and her former bully); and Chai, a werewolf whose family was also driven from their home。Honestly, the #1 reason I picked up MEESH THE BAD DEMON is because my younger sister Michelle's nickname is Meesh, and I find the idea of her as a demon delightful (no offense, sis)。 I'm so glad I did, too, because MEESH THE BAD DEMON is such a fun, sweet, and cozy read - definitely the kind of thing we need in these here times。 The artwork is so cute and charming (who knew demons could be so adorable!?), and the story is quirky and imaginative。 I love the various realms, but of course Ponderosa - "the place where all kinds of creatures live together!" - is my favorite。 While the main story lines are all resolved satisfactorily, the book ends with a bit of a tease, which hopefully means that there will be a volume 2。 。。。more

What a treat! Meesh the Bad Demon is about a girl who is trying to figure out who she is as a demon who just wants to be good。 When disaster strikes Mount Magma, home of the demons, Meesh seeks help from fairy princess Nouna, From there, they go on a wild adventure, making new friends and overcoming their differences。This was too cute。 I loved the art。 The coloring for all the different places Meesh and Nouna explore was perfect, and each character had so much personality。 I loved how the author What a treat! Once we established Meesh's personality and "faults" as a demon, this story becomes lightning-fast! Meesh is thrust into the role of becoming Mount Magma's savior and for the first time in her life leaves her home。Racism and a history of conquest and violence are present in this graphic novel。 But Meesh, Nouna, and Xavier's responses to discovering the history of the fairies and demons is uplifting。 Despite the dark themes, Meesh's story is still light-hearted and warm。 And! The 1st thing that stuck out to me when reading this was the illustrations, and then I was quickly engulfed in the world that was being built。 This graphic novel has so much character and charm, it's also a perfect spooky season read。 The 1st thing that stuck out to me when reading this was the illustrations, and then I was quickly engulfed in the world that was being built。 This graphic novel has so much character and charm, it's also a perfect spooky season read。 。。。more

Meesh the demon is not very good at being a demon。 Her fire breathing is awful, as is her poison spit and horn sharpening skills。 Meesh would much rather be a fairy like her favorite television show character。 When all the demons turn to stone, Meesh seeks help to free them and makes some new friends in the process。 #MeeshtheBadDemon1 #NetGalley

Charming, adorable, funny, sweet, as bubbly as the Bub-Lava the demons love to drink。 Mystery, mayhem, bullies, new friends, wonderful family and a little magic all come in to play as Meesh, a different kind of demon, finds a way to save not only her village, but find out who she really is。
